EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: DETROIT PISTONS – ORLANDO MAGIC (TRADE DEADLINE)

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: TRADE 17 (TRADE DEADLINE)

DETROIT PISTONS GET: Jonathan Simmons
ORLANDO MAGIC GET: Langston Galloway and 2019 Detroit Pistons Second Round Draft Pick

The Detroit Pistons have a solid group of guards, but need some help on the wing. Simmons provides a veteran that has a skill-set which compliments the Pistons other pieces. Simmons could really help the Pistons more than Galloway and at the cost, it’s worth exploring.

The Orlando Magic need something resembling a point guard and Galloway can fill enough minutes there to get by until the off-season. The Magic should be on their way to an early draft pick so adding Galloway and an asset aligns with where they’re going.

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: SACRAMENTO KINGS – TORONTO RAPTORS (TRADE DEADLINE)

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: TRADE 16 (TRADE DEADLINE)

SACRAMENTO KINGS GET: Norm Powell and 2021 Top 20 Protected Toronto Raptors First Round Draft Pick (turns into two second round draft picks in 2021 and 2022 if not conveyed)
TORONTO RAPTORS GET: Ben McLemore

The Sacramento Kings get the better player and a draft pick just because they give the better contract. Between this and the other deals they made, they have a lot of assets collected and could have a nice young team with potential put together.

Between this trade and the Malachi Richardson trade before this, the Toronto Raptors would save $16 Million total considering the luxury tax savings. While Norm Powell is solid, he is far from a crucial core type of piece so you would need to make a deal like this as ownership.

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: ATLANTA HAWKS – PHILADELPHIA 76ERS (TRADE DEADLINE)

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: TRADE 15 (TRADE DEADLINE)

ATLANTA HAWKS GET: Jerryd Bayless, 2019 Philadelphia 76ers Second Round Draft Pick and More Favorable Of 2020 Brooklyn Nets And New York Knicks Second Round Draft Pick

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS GET: Dewayne Dedmon

The Atlanta Hawks don’t need to win now and getting assets for Dewayne Dedmon is a logical direction. The Nets/Knicks second round pick could be early and they don’t lose any cap flexibility as Bayless is also expiring.

The Philadelphia 76ers would be going for Celtics level of quality depth by turning Wilson Chandler and Jerryd Bayless into Tobias Harris and Dewayne Dedmon. Dedmon would allow the 76ers to keep Embiid fresher for the playoffs and is also a good fit with-in their system.

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: INDIANA PACERS – LOS ANGELES LAKERS (TRADE DEADLINE)

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: TRADE 14 (TRADE DEADLINE)

INDIANA PACERS GET: Lance Stephenson

LOS ANGELES LAKERS GET: Kyle O’Quinn

The Indiana Pacers and Lance Stephenson have always been connected. At the cost of a free agent signing that wasn’t an absolute need to bring him back seems worth it to the Pacers. Stephenson will probably be ready to reset in Indiana as he doesn’t appear to be a great fit next to LeBron.

The Los Angeles Lakers should realize early on that Lance Stephenson doesn’t compliment LeBron well. If they could turn him into some credible center depth, they should go for it. O’Quinn provides the Lakers with a solid big man off of the bench that plays well in his role.

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: NEW YORK KNICKS – WASHINGTON WIZARDS (TRADE DEADLINE)

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: TRADE 13 (TRADE DEADLINE)

NEW YORK KNICKS GET: Austin Rivers and Jason Smith
WASHINGTON WIZARDS GET: Courtney Lee and Trey Burke

The New York Knicks are in a good enough cap position this year to take on the contract difference here. If they can dump Courtney Lee without using any draft picks they should jump at the opportunity. By helping the Wizards shed luxury tax, the Knicks create enough 2019 cap space to MAX out a free agent and keep the bird rights to Kristaps Porzingis even if they have the cap hold of a top 5 pick.

After the previously mentioned four-team deal where the Washington Wizards added Zach Randolph, this is another sneaky way to improve their second unit and get below the luxury tax outright. The Wizards would have a lot of talent accumulated after this trade and could really move up the Eastern Conference ladder.

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS – ORLANDO MAGIC (TRADE DEADLINE)

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: TRADE 12 (TRADE DEADLINE)

LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS GET: Nikola Vucevic and Terrance Ross

ORLANDO MAGIC GET: Danilo Gallinari and 2021 Miami Heat First Round Draft Pick

The Los Angeles Clippers add some pieces that will at least entertain the fans in Ross, Vucevic and Chandler, but more importantly, they gain a huge amount of 2019 cap space that makes them real players for multiple big names in the off-season.

The Orlando Magic don’t need 2019 cap space. They aren’t far enough along that any realistic target gets them any where significant. They’re better served using their expiring contracts to add a 2020 expiring contract and potentially good first round draft pick. The fact the pick belongs to Miami should just make it even sweeter for the Magic.

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS – PHILADELPHIA 76ERS (TRADE DEADLINE)

EVERY TRADE WE WILL SEE THIS SEASON: TRADE 11 (TRADE DEADLINE)

LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS GET: Wilson Chandler and 2021 Miami Heat Unprotected First Round Draft Pick
PHILADELPHIA 76ERS GET: Tobias Harris

The Los Angeles Clippers have this trade set up with a follow up to use the pick gained in this trade to dump Danilo Gallinari’s salary outright. By the trade deadline the Clippers should be pretty out of the Western Conference playoff race so using Tobias Harris to dump Gallinari is something to consider. Tobias Harris is a really good basketball player, but Jerry West knows you don’t win championships by signing Harris to the contract he will get this summer so he may as well use him to gain cap space.

The Philadelphia 76ers should welcome a trade like this. They don’t lose cap flexbility or any players of significance to get a huge talent upgrade in hopes of grabbing the East. Harris provides a skill-set that could mesh very well in a line-up of Embiid-Harris-Covington-Redick-Simmons.
